Treasure Hunt

Everybody loves a treasure hunt. It may be the simplest treasure of finding a penny on the pavement or some exotic antique that you have hunted for years. Let me tell you there is a hidden treasure that is worth more than anything in this world. Jesus says in Matthew 13:44- “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Some thoughts on this to think about.

1. Hunger- Desire is essential in discovering treasure. We have to be willing to pursue and step out into the field of treasure. When we allow the Lord to reveal his presence into our lives we will then experience and discover something more valuable than gold, something that is only relatable to eternity, something of the heavenly sort.

2. Excitement- Once we have tasted and seen the glories of his presence, we are satisfied with joy that cannot be explained or expressed in human pursuits of vanity. Men and women have longed to experience such contentment and sublime grace. Upon this encounter a rest is achieved founded upon faith and trust.

3. Surrender- Abandonment to all. Possessions of earthly magnitude are minuscule and pale. The reality is once you step out and behold the grandeur of such love you are left with an uneasiness toward things you once held dear. Very few can walk upon this plateau of truth and reality, that all is deemed lost for such a wonderful possession.

What are your treasures of life? Everyone may give different answers, but only one will truly suffice for eternal perspective. Search deep into your heart and open it up unto Christ and you will find a treasure that bankrupts the world.
